KING'S College, London, has received a Pounds 1 million grant for a nationwide study aimed at raising numeracy standards among primary school children. The money, from the Leverhulme Trust, will pay for a five-year study of children's numeracy progress. It will establish how and why different teaching methods and classroom organisation affects children's achievement.
