About University of Palermo, Argentina

Established by a group of academics and intellectuals in 1986, the Fundación Universidad de Palermo (University of Palermo Foundation) which later became the University of Palermo (abbreviated as UP).

Located in the beautiful suburban neighbourhoods of Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires, it has several buildings spread throughout the city and seven departments: the school of engineering, design and communications, law, social sciences, psychology, business and architecture. It also has an MBA Graduate School of Business. Its substantial research work and expansive degree programmes are renowned nationally and globally.

Known as one of the best private universities in Argentina, UP is also one of the most diverse higher education institutions in the region, with over 14,000 students from 59 different countries. It has worked hard to establish connections with the world’s most renowned universities and holds agreements with the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, the Indian Institute of Technology, University of Southern California, Peking University, University of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelle, New York University, Harvard and Yale.

UP’s main campus is in the Palermo neighbourhood, which is famed for its squares, gardens and independent shops. The city is an international business centre, with a breadth of national and international companies which students benefit greatly from. Buenos Aires is also the Tango capital of the world and its streets are lively around the clock, with plenty of exciting cultural activities on offer for its student population.

Notable alumni include Patricia Bullrich, minister of security for Argentina, Carla Rebecchi, an Olympic medal-winning hockey player, Diego Bucchieri, professional skateboarder and Marcelo Tribuj, entrepreneur, founder and CEO of Truelogic Software.
