THECOMMITTEE of Vice Chancellors and Principals will push for legislation to clarify the use of the "university college" title, in the light of Dearing's recommendations. The report said the title should be limited to institutions forming part of a single university, and to those with their own degree-awarding powers. It rejected calls for the title to be available to institutions accredited by a university.
