The Higher Education statistics Agency's findings for 1995/96 reveal that:
* Male first-degree graduates are almost twice as likely as women to study for a higher degree by research
* Female graduates are less likely to be unemployed (6 per cent) than males (8 per cent)
* The most popular destinations for women first-degree graduates are education (17 per cent) and health and social work (16 per cent)
