THE COMMONS education and employment select committee will hear evidence from the Teacher Training Agency next month for the second inquiry into teacher recruitment and retention this year. The committee, which should report in October, will examine the decline in teacher recruits, and the quality of entrants, clerk Matthew Hamlyn said. Proposals for paying trainee teachers a salary and a new pay scale for "super teachers", will be on the agenda, he said.
