Followers of events at the University of Luton, which has lost more than 100 staff over the past year, will not be surprised to learn they have missed out on regaining Investors in People status. Assessors apparently felt career reviews and management training were not quite up to scratch.
But they have every confidence things will be looking up by next summer, when they propose a further visit. With the university hoping to save more than Pounds 1.5 million in that period, the "investment" part of the package may need to be thought about creatively.
