A DYSLEXIC trainee solicitor is suing the College of Law in Chester and the Law Society for failing to support his disability.
Thomas Hughes, 35, chairman of the Group for Solicitors with Disabilities, claims he repeatedly failed the written section of his legal practice course because the college made no provision for an oral examination. His solicitor, Denis Whalley, a partner at J. Keith Park & Co, where Mr Hughes is now a trainee, said the writ had been issued against the Law Society because it was responsible for selecting and monitoring colleges offering the course. Nigel Savage, chief executive of the College of Law, said the college had provided as much help as it could and had offered Mr Hughes the chance to resit the exams.
