Alumnus to be proud of no 148 has provoked a rare outburst of new Labour dissent. An Early Day Motion asking whether Martin Taylor's treatment of his staff at Barclays Bank makes him the ideal person to be advising the government on taxes and benefits has attracted signatures rather outside the list of usual suspects. Not that we expect Mr Taylor to worry - he is a graduate of that training ground in disdainful superiority - Balliol College, Oxford.
