The Higher Education Statistics Agency's findings for 1995/96 reveal that: 7.7 per cent of males and 6.1 per cent of females were awarded first-class honours for first degrees
36.5 per cent of males and 45.1 per cent of females were awarded upper second-class honours
7.1 per cent of males and 3.8 per cent of females were awarded third-class honours
