Philip Kitchen, former senior lecturer at the University of Strathclyde, has been appointed to the Martin Naughton chair in business strategy.
City University
Roger Buckley, consultant ophthalmic surgeon and director of contact lens services at Moorfields Eye Hospital, has been appointed to a new chair in ocular medicine; Tim Connell, in the department of continuing education has been appointed to a personal chair.
The university has awarded personal chairs to Joe Elliott, school of education; Andrew McDonald, director of information services; Stan Oliver, school of engineering and advanced technology; Geoff Rowley, school of health sciences; John Tait, school of computing and information systems; Wallace Arthur changes his title to professor of evolutionary biology. Emeritus professorships have been awarded to Hugh Ryan, engineering; Hilary Constable, education; and Max Weetman, health sciences.
Crissie White, head of embroidered and woven textiles, has been invited to become visiting professor in the department of textile design, Stockholm.
Brian Bloomfield, former senior lecturer at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, has been appointed professor of information management.
