Leeds College of Music. Fellowships of the college have been awarded to Pandit Sharda Sahai, tabla solo artist and accompanist in North Indian Classical Music.

Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain

David Temple, director of the Welsh Centre for Postgraduate Pharmaceutical Education for the NHS in Wales, based at the University of Wales, Cardiff, has been designated a fellow of the society.

Mansfield College, Oxford

The following were elected to fellowships on November 25: Will Hutton, editor of The Observer, author of The State We're In; John Maddox, former editor of Nature and former member of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution; Julia Neuberger, rabbi, director of the King's Fund and chancellor of the University of Ulster; Dick Taverne, Queen's Counsel, former financial secretary to the Treasury, founder member of the Social Democratic Party, Liberal Democrat peer and chairman of Prima.

New Society for Advanced Legal Studies

Hugh Beale, professor in the school of law at the University of Warwick, has been elected an honorary fellow.

Institute of Physics

Ruth Lynden-Bell, professor of condensed matter simulation at Queen's University, Belfast, has been elected a fellow.
