Say what you like about Doug Trainer's struggle against the evils of the government's plans for student finance, but the NUS president cannot be accused of condoning lax morality in student unions. Visitors to SUSOC, an email noticeboard for folk who run student unions, have been engaged in a lively debate on how to get away with running strip shows.
Jaki Booth of Staffordshire asked how to do it "without causing any offence", to be told by Angus Carter of Bournemouth to keep it acceptable by having male strippers only, while in Durham Simon Coatsworth has just "done one under the guise of a ladies' night" and "made a small fortune on the bar". Liberated Hertfordshire had something similar with both male and female strippers.
The only outbreaks of moral reservation come from Wolverhampton, whose union manager is opposed to pornography - and from Doug, who has cancelled his SUSOC subscription.
