Contract researchers yesterday called on the Association of University Teachers to put pressure on research councils to manage their deadlines for funding decisions better.
They say that councils often either fail to set deadlines for funding decisions or else set them to overrun. This forces researchers to wait for months longer than expected to hear whether they will get a further contract. In the meantime their contracts expire and they personally bear the costs of delay.
