Southampton Oceanography Centre researchers are to lead a Pounds 1 million project to look at how human activity and natural processes interact to produce unique coastal environments.
The Southampton scientists, led by Michael Collins, will head a group of nine European research teams who are investigating sediment transport in estuarine waters. By analysing and understanding the physical processes which form, maintain and affect estuaries, the researchers hope to develop better ways of managing them.
