A multimedia spin-off firm from Liverpool John Moores University has won one of the United Kingdom's top design awards, Tim Greenhalgh writes.
Amaze Limited received the "published training" honour at the British Interactive Multimedia Awards at the London Hilton last week. The Oxford Guide to X-Ray Micro-Analysis comprises three CD-Roms to train operators of complex equipment in the principles of microanalysis. It took ten months to complete. Amaze was established as a commercial subsidiary of Liverpool John Moores University and was sold to ECI Ventures Limited for Pounds 2 million last September. The university remains a minority shareholder. Amaze's MTV 3D Mix (www.mtveurope.com) was shortlisted for the Macromedia Entertainment Online Award.
