Baroness Kennedy QC has been elected as the first woman to chair the British Council. She was selected from over 100 applicants for the post to take over from Sir Martin Jacomb, who retires in August after six years service.
David Drewry, the British Council's Director General, commented: "This is a great opportunity for the Council and Helena's impressive track record and leadership qualities will help us enormously in projecting Britain's strengths worldwide."
