(Photograph) - A conference in Europe this week lamented the lack of women in science and engineering. Mother-of-two Jane Towse is one of the few to have made it. The 1998 Site Engineer of the Year said: "When I was expecting my first child there was a period when they said 'write her off, she won't come back'. When I came back, they thought I would not be any good. By the time I came back after my second child, they began to realise I was a permanent fixture." Photo: Jez Coulson
