The Higher Education Statistics Agency's findings for 1996/87 reveal that: * Enrolments by females (UK and EU) to first-degree courses are up by 3 per cent over 1996 * Enrolments by males (UK and EU) to first-degree courses are up by 1 per cent over 1996 * Enrolments by female overseas students are up by 8 per cent, compared with 2 per cent for men.
