The Foreign Office this week announced a Pounds 6.6 million scholarship fund to help South-east Asian students at British universities following the region's financial collapse. Higher education institutions will be expected to contribute about Pounds 3 million, with Pounds 2.8 million coming from the Foreign Office, Department of Trade and British Council. The remainder will come from donations.
