In a money-saving move, the UK research councils will next month relinquish almost their last London abode, a prime-location office block in Covent Garden, for a cosy sharing agreement with the Medical Research Council.
The MRC is planning to lease some of its rooms near Regent's Park to the other councils. Perhaps the money saved will help persuade the Treasury, in the run-up to the comprehensive spending review, that OST is serious about efficiency and streamlining.
