Oxford silences critics

Oxford University has scotched reports that it is to offer postgraduate and degree courses over the Internet, silencing critics who have warned that the university's drive to widen access is damaging face-to-face teaching. The university has confirmed that online courses will be offered, but only in the department of continuing education. They will be sub-degree qualifications, and will include continuing professional development programmes.
