AN ADMINISTRATOR at Middlesex University and national pay negotiator for higher education since 1983 has been elected president of Britain's biggest union, Unison. Alison Shepherd, 47, who chaired the union's higher education executive from 1989 to 1997, has been a union activist for more than 20 years.
