Early fee payers get discounts

Some universities are offering discounts and vouchers to students who pay the new Pounds 1,000 tuition fee in full at the beginning of next term rather than by instalments. At the University of Essex, students who pay upfront will get a Pounds 20 voucher to be spent in the restaurant, cafe or shop on campus. At Portsmouth, students who pay by September 30 will receive a discount of 2.5 per cent, or Pounds 25.
