HERIOT-WATT's recruitment drive to attract researchers with international reputations appears to have paid off. The university's research income has rocketed by 42 per cent to more than Pounds 15 million. The university attracted almost twice as much money in grants from the research councils last year compared to the year before. Industrial and commercially-funded research income was also up on the previous year.
