Liberal Democrat education spokesman Don Foster has written to the education secretary David Blunkett urging him not to reappoint Ofsted head Chris Woodhead (above) without proper competition. In the letter, Mr Foster warned against re-appointment "for the sake of convenience". He said that the post must be advertised to "bring a new confidence to the organisation by the teaching profession".
