* The University of Aberdeen has withdrawn an offer of a place studying law to a student following the discovery that he had a conviction for assault. In a statement, the university said it had reviewed Michael Anthony's application and had "decided to withdraw the offer of a place in the light of the applicant's failure to disclose material information that the university would have had regard to in reaching its original decision".
