France's national library reopens next month at its new Paris site in a Left Bank redevelopment zone. More than ten million books, 350,000 magazine titles and a million audiovisual items have been transferred since March from the Rue Richelieu to the fully computerised Bibliotheque Nationale de France at Tolbiac. The new library has 2,000 places reserved for researchers from October 8.
