Spelling bee stings

Danish university students are furious over a new ministerial order stipulating that spelling and grammar must be included when assignments are assessed. "Whether the students can spell is not particularly interesting unless it affects their ability to communicate," said Mads Engholm, educational policy secretary of the Danish students' joint council. "Improving spelling is the job of schools," she said.
