Technicians and instructors working in further education and sixth-form colleges have been issued with guidelines from their union to cover new responsibilities. Public sector union Unison says the staff's traditional role, which involved maintaining and demonstrating equipment under supervision, has changed to include supervision and assessment. The union says this raises issues of health and safety and skills training.
