Education research should be split into two distinct fields for assessment purposes, according to the Universities Association for Continuing Education.
In response to consultation on the future of the research assessment exercise, UACE said that the assessment panels were dominated by schools' experts, and a separate category for post-compulsory education would help prioritise lifelong learning.
