* A new Pounds 9 million development of more than 400 en suite study bedrooms is to be built at the University of Plymouth in a partnership with Jarvis plc, a construction, property and facilities management group.
It will be the first project in the Pounds 500 million University Partnerships scheme, financed by Abbey National Treasury Services plc and Barclays Bank. Jarvis will own and run the development and collect rents for the rooms, which will cost students about Pounds 60 per week. The university is already in negotiations about a second development, including leisure facilities and more halls of residence.
