A call to double the number of people starting modern apprenticeships in five years and to open training routes through higher education has come from the Centre for Economic Performance. The content, funding and status of apprenticeships should also change, says a report by Hilary Steedman and Howard Gospel of the CEP and Paul Ryan from Cambridge University.
