Universities have been warned not to rush bids for the Pounds 600 million joint infrastructure fund.
In a letter to all vice-chancellors, the Wellcome Trust, which is ploughing Pounds 300 million into the fund designed to replace out-of-date and run-down university infrastructure and equipment, says it is "most concerned that many universities are attempting to prepare bids too hastily" in time for the first December 4 deadline. More than 40 separate university groups have begun work on the online JIF application form.
