The Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Royal Society in London are launching a study on the implications of devolution for Scottish science and the British science base. The work group will be chaired by Geoffrey Boulton, dean of Edinburgh University's faculty of science and engineering.
The initial stage of clarifying policy implications is expected to be complete by next spring and recommendations for action will be produced after elections to the Scottish parliament next May.
