Wang Youcai, a student leader of the 1989 democracy protests in Tiananmen Square, is to be tried for subversion next week. Wang has already served two years in prison. He announced the formation of the China Democracy Party the day President Clinton arrived for the first visit of a United States president for nine years. He is now accused of working with foreign interests and inciting the overthrow of state power.
