Enrolments in Welsh higher education have risen by more than 45 per cent since 1993, according to the Welsh funding councils. Part-time numbers have more than doubled. More than 100,000 students were enrolled onto courses in 1996-97. Just over 60 per cent - 65,000 students - were full-time, with 37,000 studying part-time.
