A "unique alliance" between academics, the drugs industry and the National Health Service was forged this week with the opening of a Pounds 10 million centre for diabetes and related illnesses at Oxford University. The Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism was opened by health secretary Frank Dobson (below).
