Police in Mali used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse a student march on the office of president Alpha Omar Kanare after he rejected an amnesty for five students condemned to six years' hard labour. The five were charged with the death of a ten-year-old in a student protest about campus catering. Mali University is temporarily closed.
