Sweden is to fund an extra 10,000 higher education places in 2001 with another 10,000 in 2002 on top of planned expansion of 68,000 places from 1997 to 2000. The budget allocates an an extra Kr779 million (Pounds 58.31 million) to basic research and researcher training.
