The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development has told the Irish government it should re-introduce tuition fees - abolished four years ago - to help stop the booming economy overheating, writes John Walshe.
In its biennial country report, the OECD acknowledges Ireland's "stunning economic performance" but says corrective measures are needed.
It calls for massive investment in infrastructural development and the re-introduction of tuition fees.
It says that "consideration should be given to restoring fees and instituting a programme of student loans".
The present minority government is not likely to risk the re-introduction of fees.
