The Scottish Higher Education Funding Council is beefing up its strategy to get a better deal for Scotland's 4,000 short - term contract research staff. SHEFC has awarded Pounds 160,000 to six universities for projects to help support staff and their managers, and will shortly seek bids for a project comparing the costs and benefits of short - term contracts against alternatives that may improve research quality, give greater value for money and offer researchers career stability.
