* Britain's academics need to accept that aggressive fund-raising is central to their sector's future, according to a new report. The UK Vice-Chancellor Study of University Development, by James Erickson, vice-chancellor at the University of California, has been compiled from the responses of 34 vice chancellors. The questionnaires show that vice-chancellors or those at a chief executive level are finding themselves increasingly involved in fund-raising or development activities.
Many felt that more could still be done.
