Uladzimir Antonau, a Belarusian student activist, has applied for political asylum in Poland after being arrested twice for participating in public protests over the past six months and expelled from the Belarusian State University. If his request is granted, he intends to resume studies at the University of Bialystok, in eastern Poland, where there is a substantial ethnic Belarusian minority.
