Coshep asks for funds to exploit research

The Committee of Scottish Higher Education Principals this week urged the Scottish Parliament to boost "third-leg" funding to commercialise academic research. In a briefing for the new parliament's enterprise and lifelong learning committee, Coshep said there should be "meaningful" support to enable institutions to turn research into commercially viable ventures. Coshep wants the committee to develop policy and initiate legislation in areas which the parliament and Scottish executive may not have time to investigate.
