About 300 students from the University of Puerto Rico protested last week against the US military's continuing occupation of a training ground on the outlying Caribbean island of Vieques. Others called for an end to recruiting at colleges and demanded the release of 16 Puerto Rican nationalists jailed some 20 years ago for sedition in connection with bombing attacks on the US mainland.
