More than one in eight full-time students at Scottish universities will enter directly into the second year because of good sixth-form results, according to the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. Some 13.2 per cent of students (up from 12.4 per cent) are now doiing so, and saving a year's living cost and tuition fees.
