The statue of Dositej Obradovic (1742-1822), the Serbian writer and philosopher, has been pulled down from outside the rector's office at Pristina University. Obradovic was one of the founders of modern Serbian literature and established cultural and educational links between the Balkans and Europe. The official Yugoslav news agency Tanjug blamed "ethnic Albanian nationalists".
