The director-general of Unesco, Koichiro Matsuura, has laid the foundation stone of a new university in the northern town of Kara about 500 kilometres from Lome, capital of Togo. Ampa Johnson, vice-chancellor of the new university, said it will cater for the growing number of students who fail to enter the country's premier university in Lome.
