Modern career service template to be made

June 9, 2000

Sir Martin Harris, Manchester University's vice-chancellor, is leading a review into the state of British university careers services, due to report by the end of the year.

An expert panel, including careers advisors, students and employers, will draw on examples of best practice and their own experiences to design a template for an "effective, modern careers service", according to higher education minister Baroness Blackstone.

The announcement comes just months after a survey by the Association of Graduate Recruiters revealed that many blue-chip employers are dissatisified with existing services.
