The Department for Education is providing Pounds 120,000 to help the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service to fight student fraud.
Some of the money will be spent on improved computer software to detect fraudulent applications. In 1993/94 UCAS detected 700 grant frauds involving Pounds 1.3 million.
